The overall scope of the Durham Street, Christchurch project is to repair and strengthen the building to 100% NBS without interrupting tenant operability. The building was once the largest single span structure in the Southern Hemisphere and includes a suspended timber piled floor, on a concrete ring foundation and a complex steel saw-tooth roof truss system.  The damage to the building was significant and the repairs and strengthening work are extensive and complicated by the requirement to accommodate existing businesses while the works are undertaken.
